Baby Carriers

Safety & General Tips

General Tips

Your sling is quick and easy to use once you have learned how. When first trying out your sling choose a time when baby is happy and rested. Once you have mastered the front position simply slide baby and sling around your body to the side or back if preferred.

Some babies may fuss when first put into the sling especially if this is a new experience. Moving about as soon as your baby is secure may help.

Some babies prefer to be able to see out of the sling more and this can be achieved by pulling up the sling fabric closest to your body. Pulling the fabric the other way covers baby more offering protection from the elements and helps sooth an overstimulated baby.

By removing the size label your sling becomes reversible. This is only possible with the plain fabrics as the prints are one-sided.

Body to body contact creates warmth so remember that you and your baby may both need lighter clothing while using your sling.

Safety Tips

  • Always use your own judgement and pay attention as to whether your baby is secure in the sling.
  • Always keep your sling roughly folded in half at your shoulder to ensure the sling pocket is maintained and your baby is secure.
  • For maximum comfort always spread the fabric out well at your shoulder and ensure that the fabric is flat across your back. Leaving the sling bunched up at the neck can cause shoulder pain.
  • Support your baby whenever bending down.
  • When cooking, ironing or doing other similar activities it is recommended that you place your baby in the back position.
  • Babies like to grab things so watch your baby's activity when standing close enough for them to reach objects.
